Our Story

Since 2013, Beneath the Streets has been committed to providing historically accurate guided tours that embrace the imperfect, illustrious, and fascinating, truths of early Seattle.
Following The Great Seattle Fire of 1889, the people of Seattle were presented with a much needed opportunity to rebuild and raise the city from the tidal flats. The unique manner in which they rebuilt led to the creation of the underground. A historic preservation movement in the late 1960’s allowed some of the original underground to remain. Beneath the Streets shows you three of these underground areaways as you walk above and below the historic Pioneer Square neighborhood.
